So Close to Summer 004 – “The Lux”

SoCloseToSummer004 (TV Size)

Music is meant to be created, curated, and shared. It’s been a mission of mine to do just that through Sound of February and I’m always looking for new ways to expand how we share sounds and the feelings that accompany them. This is why I’m excited to partner with KiaNaturally.com and Niven Quaye on a biweekly YouTube playlist series called “So Close To Summer”.

We’re calling our 4th episode “The Lux”, which is what I like to describe as a “rich sound”, both figuratively and literally. This list is all about living the life of luxury and all that comes with that – the high life, the lows that follow, and everything in between. As always, Subscribe to the YouTube channel for more vibes and start the dialogue in the comments box below the main video (or just let the tweets fly).

This is our 3rd episode, and the as the saying goes, 3rd times the charm, so that’s what we’re calling this episode: “The Charm”. This list is going to be full of energetic, fun, uptempo records along with more seductive downtempo records, but all of them have a bit of charm to win you over. First off, I want to say thanks so much to everyone who checked out the previous episode, it was our grand opening and we’re glad that the experience we curated was able to resonate with people. Creating these lists around…a particular idea is like telling a story without being able to use any of your own words, but it’s a beautiful thing if you’re able to succeed in telling it.

We’re calling this episode “The Thrill”. We wanted to capture songs that communicated the whole range of feelings that come with the thrill of a moment, whether that’s a night turning up, intimacy, or the the consequences that come from actions done in the name of the thrill. I think this list tells a story so check it out and hit us with your thoughts. Subscribe to the YouTube channel for more vibes and let’s start the dialogue.

This is why I’m excited to partner with KiaNaturally.com and Niven Quaye on a biweekly YouTube playlist series called “So Close To Summer”. I wanted to give the series that title because for many of my peers, this is an interesting time for us. We’re always feeling so close to the next thing, our hopes and goals, the better versions of ourselves, even if we don’t quite know that means yet. We may be stuck in the coldest winter but we’re always so close to summer if we keep pushing. Keep following the muses that inspire you and share that inspiration with the world. I’m looking forward to providing a unique perspective with each episode and definitely looking forward to discovering new content from others that are making an impact on their lives. Subscribe to the YouTube channel for more vibes and let’s start the dialogue.

Alvin Allure – Dreams For Sale

Dreams For Sale Cover Draft 2

Episode 2 of the Kids With Dreams album.

Produced by Alvin Allure
Mixed by Edward J. Nixon
Mastered by Tom Waterman

Listen on: Apple Music |  Spotify | Google Play | YouTube | Tidal

Someone once said that “Life is about the buying and selling of dreams”…that we’re all either the hustlers or customers of dreams, desires, and that which we choose to believe. Well, I believe that we look for the dreams that are eventually sold to us because they feel safer than the ones we’ve created for ourselves. We end up losing our own image when we superimpose non-resonating goals into our lives. This record (and the album as a whole) is a statement of creation, a metaphorical line in the sand, and a message saying to avoid buying a dream that isn’t better than the ones you already own.

This record is a continuation of the themes presented in “The Language of God” but is more hip hop, more self-propelling, and more confident.

Author Robert Greene said: “Be the master of your own image rather than letting others define it for you.”

Empower yourself. No one will ever give you permission to do something that they cannot accomplish themselves. They can’t sell you a dream that you refuse to buy. Live your life and create your world, while finding inspiration along the way. Dreams are for sale but inspiration is forever free.

The Language Of God (Full Cover, SoF size)

Episode 1 of the Kids With Dreams album.

Produced by Alvin Allure

Listen on: Apple Music Connect

There’s a quote in the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coehlo that says that “Dreams are the Language of God”, and since reading that book back at the end of 2013, I’ve found that to be true in my life. Whether it’s waking up in the morning with new creative inspiration after dreaming or having God/the Universe/any higher power you believe in push you in the direction of your purpose through the vehicle of your own dreams and aspirations, I’ve found that a Dream is a two-way path of communication with a higher plane. “The Alchemist” and the ideas of navigating through dreams are a big inspiration for this album. Even though dreams are the language of God, if God can’t reach you through dream…he’ll reach you through nightmare. That idea is where this song’s sound stems from. The song (and album) deals with the nightmare that comes from buying a dream that isn’t quite real (or really for you) and how that can turn into a nightmare until you navigate your way out of it. It’s a jarring feeling and was perfect for an intro record to this project. Once you realize that your dreams are for you alone and you don’t need to buy any other dream that someone else is selling, you can clear that path of communication with that higher being and move closer towards your purpose.
